Bright Futures Scholarships are available for all qualified Florida high school students and are funded by the Florida Lottery. Qualifications are listed below but are subject to change by FLDOE. Visit the Florida Bright Futures Home Page for the most up to date scholarships' criteria.
The Scholarships are based on a student's academic GPA computed by the State, college preparatory test scores, and community service/work hours.
THE ACADEMIC SCHOLARSHIP REQUIREMENTS FOR STUDENTS ARE:
- A minimum 3.5 GPA
- For 2025 graduates: 1340 SAT or 29 ACT score or Classic Learning Test 96
- For 2026+ graduates: 1330 SAT or 29 ACT or Classic Learning Test 95
- 100 hours of community service or 100 work hours
THE MEDALLION SCHOLARSHIP REQUIRES STUDENTS TO HAVE:
- A minimum 3.0 GPA
- For 2025 graduates: 1210 SAT or 25 ACT score or Classic Learning Test 84
- For 2026+ graduates: 1190 SAT or 24 ACT or Classic Learning Test 82
- 75 hours of community service or 100 work hours
BOTH ACADEMIC AND MEDALLION SCHOLARSHIPS ARE BASED ON:
- 4 years of Math (Algebra 1, 2, Geometry, and above)
- 4 years of English
- 3 years of Science
- 3 years of Social Studies
- 2 years of the same foreign language
THE GOLD SEAL VOCATIONAL SCHOLARSHIP IS BASED ON THE SAME COURSES REQUIRED FOR GRADUATION BUT THE ELECTIVES MUST INCLUDE:
- 3 credits in the same vocational area, 3.5 GPA in vocational classes
- Overall 3.0 GPA
- College ready test scores on SAT, ACT, CLT, or PERT
- 30 hours of community service
Residency in the State of Florida is required. The scholarship must be used in the State of Florida. Private colleges and universities accept the monies, but only receive the same amount that would be given to a public college or university.
Seniors will apply during their senior year between October 1st and graduation. They can continue to take the SAT/ACT/CLT through the July test dates of their senior year to earn the required test scores.
