Our History

George Jenkins High School

Located on a 95 acre site in southeast Lakeland, George Jenkins High School was founded in 1993. Richard Lewis, the first principal, made a commitment to the community that GJHS would provide a quality education for every student in a challenging, caring atmosphere dedicated to educational excellence and community involvement; the current administration supports and reinforces his vision. The school has received the coveted "Five Star School" award, recognizing schools with exemplary community involvement, from the Florida Commissioner of Education. George Jenkins High School now has a population of 2,300 students and 125 staff members. George Jenkins' mission is make sure that every student is prompt, polite and prepared for success in college or career.
